First Camino... of many

I'm happy to say I finished my first Camino a few weeks ago. I was privileged enough to do it with my mom and it was an experience of a lifetime. We are both planners so of course we detailed everyday and planned the hostels we would be staying at... that was a mistake I should've listened to all your comments about taking it as it came. So on the second day we cancelled everything and took the Camino one day at time and it couldn't have gone better. Although on the third day I did say.. nope I'm done can't do this anymore. We had walked from Tui to Cesantes longest day ever!!! but the next day I woke up refreshed and ready to go ( with a little pep talk from my mom) I will say that feeling when you finally get to Santiago is indescribable, but the Camino is even more regarding. I remember thinking when we finally got there, I made it, I did it.. wonder what else I can do now. I will say I also said, yep did the Camino awesome but this will be it, it's checked off and never again. I'm happy to say that two days later I was planning my next one, hoping to do el Camino Frances next year and trying to convince my dad to join us this time. Yes we had that feeling that tomorrow we will have a day off and sight see. But each morning Santiago is calling and you have to walk, and each day the wonder of the work that has been done to help you get there, and foot prints both real on the ground and in the atmosphere of the way grows stronger.

When you arrive the tourist stalls and the coach parties are nothing to do with it, they are to be pitied. The city is holy ground that has to be walked to be earned and you, and the ones before and after you, are what make it so.

My next time will be good, better in some ways, but the will only be one first time.
