Hi, Im getting ready to walk from Sarria to Santiago beginning 22nd August 13 - I have never done this sort of independent walking before - so nervous and excited at the same time - buen Camino

Words of assurance have little effect on nerves, but you will find that the walk unfolds one step at a time. Gather enough information before you go so that you have the big picture. The details will work themselves out. The more rigid your planning, the more likely you will stay nervous. You will always be trying to achieve the plan rather than enjoy the walk. The disadvantage of booking and baggage service is that they force a schedule on you. With your pack on your back and a list of accommodations, you can walk when you want and quit when you want. A friend booked with a tour service for a two week pilgrimage. The tour had a chase van, so that stragglers could get a ride anytime during the day. No one spent his/her time trying to reach a hotel or catch up with forwarded baggage. It was expensive, but it solved the problem of obsessing over plans.
