I would like some advice on the camino like best place to start, how to get there, the common expense of a 30 day camino going from hostile to hostile or if camping is common. I would like to have a 5 day breather so i can see the sights and experience the camino since i am on a set time limit of 30 days.
So where is the best place to start at preferably with an international airport in the city.
Also do you pay in euros or is credit card welcome in most places. If so euros how much should a person carry to survive
I am coming from Salt lake city, united states.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Burgos is about 500 km from Santiago, so at 20 km per day, it will be 25 days walking plus your rest days. There is an airport at Burgos, but it can be reached by bus and train as well from Madrid, Barcelona, or Santiago.

Plan about 30 Euro per day, for a budget of 900 Euro.

Camping is not common. Most pilgrims stay in the albergues for 5 to 12 Euro per night. Campgrounds are about the same price, but are not as frequent.

Spain is a cash economy, so only the larger hotels and stores will take a credit card. It is most convenient to get cash from an ATM along the way, about once a week.

Have fun planning!

an alternative is to fly into Madrid get the bus to leon and start from there. Then you do not start on the mesaetre.20 kms is quite a lesuirley pace...as for rest days...leon is cool...Lugo worth a visit. With a shorter camino you get to go on to Finestire and Muxia as rest days too.Cash is king outside of cities.ATM's and telebanco are widespread but never fall below an emergency 200 euros in your money belt.30 euro a day is a good average but with rooms being in high demand from sarria factor in an extra 15 euro a day for the last week just in case

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
