First Time Pilgrim walking the Central Portuguese Camino in March 2018

Dear Members
I am looking for some help. Myself and a friend are flying into Porto on 27th March 2018 and leaving Santiago on 7th April 2018. We plan to walk the Central Portuguese Camino. We are planning on walking for 9 days and starting walking from Vilarinho and doing the stages as per the John Brierley book. We are not planning on carrying our bags as my friend does not want to.
Can anyone suggest, couriers to carry our bags for us and Albergues to stay in along the way and does anyone have a profile map of this part of the Camino they could send us a link to?
Also would we need sleeping bags that time of year or just a sleeping sheet?

Liz, you would probably do well to take a sleeping bag. I walked from Porto to Santiago, and as soon as I could I bought a sleeping bag as I was cold. It was sometime over the summer but I forget exactly when.

Hi Liz, not sure what information you are looking for regarding albergues. If you are using the Brierley guidebook then all the info you need is in there. Just arrive at your intended destination and go to any one of the albergues.

For a profile map, if you Google “caminho portugues mapa”, you’ll get some good hits.

I walked from Porto to Santiago in late Apr - begining of May and was happy to have a light sleeping bag with me. Especially knowing that you don't need to carry them in your case. That would give you more options in terms of accommodation: private albergues have all the bed linnes and blankets, but in state run ones you'll need a sleeping bag. The route is very well marked, popular, also easy and pleasant to walk. Don't necessarily need boots, could do with runners there. Bom Camino!
