Hi, anybody walking currently walking or have walked from Mid Sept into October before. With regards to weather and path conditions. What type of footwear are you walking or recommend at this time on primitivo/norte. Have worn trail runner non goretex on frances at this time before with brilliant weather. Just concerned of rain and path conditions, boots or trekking shoes waterproof?? Thanks.

Hi there. I’ve walked the Primitivo twice at that time. And I wore the same footwear as on any other camino. I see you walked the Frances last year. I’d suggest just wearing what you have worn in the past if it’s worked for you. I don’t think there is any need for special / different footwear on the Primitivo 😎

In the summer I wear my La Sportiva trail runners. In the winter I wear my gortex La Sportiva mid boots that are made on the same last as the trail runners. (fit is the same, but they are warmer). In September it may still be hot. It begins to get cooler in October so you may be between seasons a little.

I'm currently on the Camino Primitivo and I'm wearing Altra Lone Peak 7 trail shoes. I'm still undecided about whether or not it was a good choice. *Strictly my opinions for my situation-> Pros: they dry fast, excellent traction Cons: not much between your feet and the terrain, I feel every stone. However, another person on the trail also has Altra trail hikers and said that they feel much more sure footed because they feel the ground.
I see lots of people wearing standard hiking boots, full leather boots and even someone in sandals with a heel strap.
The Primitivo is very rocky up hill and down hill, loose shale type of rock, sharp rock, smooth rock, and serrated rocks. Expect very muddy sections and asphalt also.
For me, I would look at fast drying ( because they are getting wet), traction (varied terrain), comfort and toe protection. Not necessarily in that order.
You can also bring a thicker wool sock or liner to regulate foot temperature.
Hope that helps.

I have been trying to find a way to avoid the circus during the last stages of Frances. In two hours you can take the Lugo - Ourense train and walk the last stages on the Plata. Is it a good idea...
https://www.alojamientoloshospitales.com/albergue I found a link to this place in an old thread, but can't find it on WisePilgrim, the Gronze map or if I search by address. Can someone tell me...
Hi all Heading out for a meal tonight and Pilgrim mass before starting the Primitivo tomorrow. Any recommendations on where to get a great meal in Oviedo?
