Del Norte 2022
A couple of months ago I posted a rather long bit about my misadventures on the Camino del Norte and my three attempts to walk from Irun to Santiago. "Try, try again". Well now I'm at it again at 84 years old. I got back on in San Vicente de la Barquera and I'm heading to Oveido on these wobbly old legs. I'm leaving Unquera this morning and heading on a short day to Buelna. Last summer I walked from Oveido to Ballota and was booted off the Camino by contracting COVID. Once I get to Oveido I will jump ahead to Ballota and start again toward Santiago. Please Lord let me get to Santiago this time. Old Hillwalker

You can do it!!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You can definitely do it I have faith in you. It does get easier once you really start walking southwest towards Santiago. May I recommend two albergues. This one is about 6k past Abadin. You would be hard to find somewhere more lovely and tranquil. Super clean and comfortable and wonderful owners.
In Sobrado Dos Monxes the albergue in the Monastery has been completely remodeled. I stayed pre remodel. It was cold that night (Mid november) but it is an amazing place. Looking at the photos in Gronze all I recognize is the stone wall in the background in one of the photos. It really felt like you were in a medieval monastery before the remodel. It looks like it will have a completely different feel to it. Much brighter. No matter it is a special place.

Best of luck to you & blessings to you that the good Lord walks with you. I walked into Santiago on my 65th birthday and I'm hoping next year to walk in on my 75th birthday - the good Lord willing! Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello everyone, I will have to work digitally about every other day from Irun to SdC (bringing an iPad). What are the wifi connections like along the entire route? What about the Primitivo? Thanks.
I’m travelling to Irún today to start my Camino tomorrow morning - I’m flying to Biarritz getting in at 4pm, planning on catching the bus to Hendaye and walking to the pilgrims hostel from there...
An article on the El Correo website reporting on very high occupancy rates at the albergue in Markina on the Camino del Norte. Full almost daily...
