Hi all, we are a group of three adults and three 12 year old boys. We are bringing the boys away for a five day walk on the Camino. We arrive into Porto just after Easter. Could someone let me know what five days walking up from Porto would be like. I know the terrain is fine, but would it be better to get a bus out the first few stages to the countryside and if so where would you suggest? Also would the accommodation be very busy on this route and is there plenty of cheap alternatives? Thank you. Great site, I have gained much valuable information already.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

You're fairly soon in the countryside from Porto. If you check out my web site, then run MS Word, and import my diary from http://www.calig.co.uk/camino_de_santiago.htm and you may learn quite a bit! I went from Porto to Santiago last year, starting on April 1st [All Fools' Day which seemed appropriate].
Accommodation is great - albergues and inexpensive small hotels, too. If you're travelling AFTER Easter, there should be no problem with accommodation.
Just relax, and you'll have a great time - let us know on the forum when you get back!
Buen Camino!

Trust your Easter walk went well, my parents took their 4 daughters on many tramps when we were young and this has made walking nuts of all of us, so hope your kids really enjoyed it. I did this route with my daughter a year or two ago and while she is in her late twenties now it was a lovely to see that years of tramping experience is passed on.
