Hi. I will fly into Porto next Monday, hopefully get a bus to Tuy and overnight there, starting the walk to SdC on Tuesday. Hope to meet a few Pellegrinos along the way (and Pellegrinis?). Buen Caminho to all.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Have a great trip. The Albergue is right next to the Cathedral , and there are several private albergues , pensions and hotels etc.

I stayed at Villa San Clemente which was very comfortable and the young man of the family charming and helpful.

Beware Wartsila ..... on the way to O Porrino ;)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Stu,

You might consider getting off the bus at Valenca de Minho which was the old Portuguese frontier and then walking across the river Minho to Tui in Spain on the 19th century bridge designed by Eiffel of Paris tower fame. On the bridge the river view towards Tui and the cathedral is splendid!

Be sure you have good wet weather gear! In December 2011 after finishing the Camino Frances I continued to Finisterre, per usual, and then walked down to the border at Tui/Valenca de Minho. The weather was cold and very WET; often I was the only pilgrim. However, all the Galician xunta albergues were GREAT with welcome heat, good showers and handy pilgrim kitchens.

Stay dry and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

Hi Margaret
Thanks for this, I'll follow your advice. Re weather, I have looked at 10 day forecast and it looks warm and dry, but I have been caught out before (old and wiley!), so will go prepared! Am straining at the leash now...just want to get to Stansted and get going!

I'd recommend starting in Valenca too. If you're there early enough, get up to the fortress before sunrise, and watch the sun come up over Spain where you'll soon be walking.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
