I am intending to walk the Camino Frances in September/October 2008 with my husband. I retire at the end of December 2007 and, although somewhat apprehensive, want to embrace this change of pace in a positive way. The Camino will permit time away to muse about the future and the past. The musing about the future will be how now to use my time on earth to learn and grow without the structure of work. The musing about the past will be to wonder about family connections as I walk through the country of my heritage. My father is from northern Spain. He left at an early age during the Spanish Civil War. The part of the country that I will be walking through is where his family originated.
I feel like a peregrina already as I mentally and physically prepare for this interesting, unique experience. Above all, I anticipate that the best part of this journey will be to construct another wonderful memory with my best friend beside me!
