Time of past OR future Camino
Fall (2018)
We've committed to ourselves to complete part of The Camino from SJPDP - Logrono in Sept 2018. Where we are in our process is: Training....check, Transportation to Biarritz......check. This is about it. We have so many questions and when you don't know what you don't know, it's difficult to ask questions. This forum is where we're hoping to gain insight and knowledge - all suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcome. We're in decent shape and have our training schedule pretty much set, so we're good there. Other than having our travel to Biarritz already set , we have nothing else (because we have don't know where or how to begin).
Where to get our passport for the walk.....Where to stay in SJPDP......Packing.......Accommodations along the way (should we make reservations now).......and the list goes on. We are fine with hostels (albergues are the same ??), but definitely are open to a hotel on occasion. As they say, "ignorance is bliss". We are going into this wide-eyed and full of excitement, but want to avoid problems because of stupidity. Thanks in advance to all of you paying if forward to newbies. One day we will be like you.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Think about donating, joining, or join when you get back with lots of Camino enthusiasm.

You also can get one in SJPdP at the Pilgrim Office.

In September, you may find that albergues often are full, so consider booking ahead. You can play it by ear in the beginning and see how it goes! A stop at Orisson breaks up the first day about 1/3 :: 2/3. Most pilgrims walk all the way from SJPdP to Roncesvalles. You will have enthusiasm, adrenaline, and rested muscles (and a fairly long daylight) that first day. Expect the wear down a bit each day until reaching Logrono. You will just be getting into shape as you finish!:)

Have fun; there is not reason to break yourself. Take care of your feet, and hydrate. Buen camino.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. If you have more suggestions, please send them our way. We're totally clueless.
