Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
Yesterday I told hubby flights right now are under NZ$2,000 to Madrid.
Today he replied we should zip away, just him and me with no kids - for three weeks.
I quickly told him of the Camino de Madrid which could be walked in 15 days including an extra day in Segovia.
I told him (based on a report on this forum) it could cost under 100 euros each for accommodation.
I told him we might even meet no other pilgrims - really be just us!
I told him there is an easy-peasy train to catch from Sahagun back to Madrid and home again.
He just said we might do it next year!!!!

Oh darn. I was feeling so excited for you. Another year to wait!!!!!

THIS YEAR? No, in two weeks I am doing the Oxfam Trailwalker (which is 100km in 36 hours).....that was always to be the focus walking-wise for this year. Last year's 1,500km was a real treat after being in Spain for the first time not even two years prior to that. I did not expect to be returning for Quite Some Time. The prospect of next year fills me with excitement. Next year's focus was supposed to be doing overnight hikes carrying all our provisions, tent etc. Arctic Circle Trail or GR10 were going to feature before another camino. But I sure don't object to another Camino, even if it is a short one and doesn't end in Santiago. We had always said we'd never go to Europe for less than six weeks, but I've taken that back!
Give me two hours and I can be packed and ready to leave for the airport. Give me six hours and I could walk TO the airport!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
