I caught the train with my bike (no need for any dismantling) from Barcelona to Tortoisa and stayed the night at Hotel Tortosa Parc. (they had a garage where I stored the bike) next day I started peddling towards Xerta where I stopped for a zumo naranja and a cortado… a good excuse to enjoy village life…
Leaving Xerta I found a rail trail which was great to ride with lots of tunnels through the mountains.
I thought it headed to Gandesa but actually it headed more to the west so after some confusing navigation I finally made it into Gandesa only to fine all accommodation full.
So it was off to Batea where I found Hotel H. de l'Anton.
