Hello Everyone! I am Michael Vander from Portland, Oregon. I start my walk from St. Jean Pied-De-Port on or around the 3rd of April 2009. Wondering what the average weather conditions are like in the early spring? If it is anything like its here where I live, the snow and rain will not be a problem. Great website!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Expect anything along the Camino in April! In 2008 there were definitely some snowstorms. In mid-April along the Le Puy route I struck snow, then 30C+ heat a week later. You need to prepare for all conditions.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi, I walked the same route in April a few years ago. I found it cool most mornings and evenings, requiring my fleece...by most afternoons I was in trail shorts and tee shirt - some days it got down right hot, but not unbearable. It rained perhaps a third of the time. I didn't encounter snow directly but I missed it by two days around Burgos. In a nut shell, prepare for all weather type, none of which will be extreme (chances are). You will probably find Galician weather (towards the end) approximates Oregon weather on balance...Buen Camino!!
