Ps- have you got medical insurance? If so, their helpline might be the best place to start, they should be able to help with locating assistance and language help. It's not great feeling ill and vulnerable on the Camino. here's the details Centro de Salud de Estella Paseo de la Inmaculada, 39, 31200 Estella, Navarra, Spain =34 948 55 63 50
I’m very ill. So ill that I’m asking for help. I wonder if anyone could send me the name / # of a clinic or hospital.
I feel better, then I’m afraid. Fever, sore throat, malaise. Virus.
Father Jeffrey knows my email and so does @JillGat

I’m in a very comfortable space, Hostal Volare??? I just want to be ready. The male staff guy here has informed me it’s in my head. Not such a nice guy.

Hi Debrita,I finally slept a bit last night and my cough is a bit less tight. I so appreciate all the help.
I think the advised to stay in a comfortable place for another day is good, so I will.
Okay, into the shower. I’m a hot mess.
Last night I was lying in bed running a fever and feeling miserable, I read somebody’s post on those people who use transportation.
I think that the root of the issue was that those people were taking his room. Honestly, though, for the first time ever, I actually think I might have to use transportation. I’m just not entirely sure I will be able to walk to Monjardin. I’m not currently completely ruling it out, The last few days have been really rough.
I did walk from my pension to the cathedral in town ( Estella). At the fancy hotel right next to it, I saw several people my age checking in. They have lots and lots of luggage! I’ve never done it that way. Honestly though, after the last few days, I have made the decision that I will not be traveling alone anymore.
If I can’t persuade my husband to come along, I’ll do something different. My very cool Danish ground, we spent last night here as well, left me with some bread and a little bit of chocolate. Along with the walk, I got three big bottles of fluids. My enthusiasm is pretty flat though!
Thank you, everybody, for your huge support. See what tomorrow brings.

"I have made the decision that I will not be traveling alone anymore."
Fair enough. I'm not sure I will either! Finally tried it this past Spring, walking the Finisterre. That was enough. Left to myself I found that I walked too much alone, as I knew that I would.
I don't walk the Camino to "find myself", and feel no need to walk alone.... And its comforting to know that, if I don't show up at the day's agreed-upon destination, a walking companion will notice -- that if I encounter a problem someone familiar will be there to help me get through it.... In 2015 I fell crossing a busy street in Virgen del Camino and badly broke my right hand. Thank God that I had a walking companion who rode with me in the ambulance to the hospital in Leon, and stayed right there with me until everything was stitched up and bandaged.... Would have been infinitely more difficult/upsetting had I been alone....
BTW: the care I received was absolutely world class!
Yes! Easier with a simpatico friend!

Glad to hear that you are not only back in the way, but also contemplating your next trip. You may be a bit low and slow now Deb but you are unstoppable! If you can't get your old man to join you next time you can tag along with us on the Vdlp next year, and I am sure many others would be pleased to have you join them. Meanwhile, one foot after another, have fun on completing this Camino.Last night I was lying in bed running Honestly though, after the last few days, I have made the decision that I will not be traveling alone anymore.
Well said! And thanks for the link to the video. Brilliant. Going to have to catch up with the others Deb has done.Deb - do it again! You have new friends waiting for you there!

Thrilled to see your back on your feet and walking.
I have found a new admiration for those of you who travel to Spain and walk alone so far from home.
Possibly that’s the mark of a real pilgrim.
I can sympathize with your plight. 3 years ago a friend from Spain came for a weeks visit. He spent 6 days in bed with the flu.
Earlier this month another friend of mine stayed with us 10 days.
The last four days he suffered with a toothache. I think I felt worse than they did
Hola CaminoDebrita,
So glad you are feeling better. My name is Don and Carolynn from St Louis said she saw you around Villamayor de Monjardin. I am currently in Viana at the Andres Munoz albergue at the far end of town. A bunch of pilgrims are meeting in town for dinner at 7pm. You could email me at dbgimmy@yahoo.com. I have been reading your posts for months, and now I believe we are in the same town in Spain. Amazing!! I am from San Diego. I hope to meet up soon.
Ciao,
Don
Hey Deb,
I hope to meet you soon. I think I already know you. I will go to Ventosa tomorrow.
Don
Half of Australia is not walking the Camino
Good God
One of the reasons staying in Alburgues worries me. Much to easy to pass germs around. That and the fact my wife tells me I snore a few times a week lolIt’s certainly a bit easier when one is in one’s own bed, right? Did not mean to upset anyone while I was sick!
Wow, I am hearing a lot of coughing today. I stayed at beautiful and VERY accommodating Albergue Sansol last night, and the diminutive owner— a gracious man who wears a baseball cap and absolutely loves music— helped me choose a good bunk near a good window. Then, he gave me a good shot of Pacheron! After I went to bed, people came,
Including one young woman with the same residual cough.
Something is certainly being spread around! Last night was my first Albuquerque night for quite a while! I have bad lungs, and asthma kicked in. I was really afraid I wasn’t going to be able to ultreiga, but am now so glad! Sure hope this nasty thing can’t come back again though.
