Here I go!

Time of past OR future Camino

Well it's time... I'm off to the Camino Frances.

This is how I'm going...

Sorry... keep losing the connection on this wretched mini ipad!

I didn't want to fly... so I have decided to go by an overnight Megabus from London to Paris, take a connecting train to Biarritz via Dax and then stay in the Youth Hostel overnight. Hopefully I can start early for Bayonne and the train to St Jean.

Reasons? Two nights of rest (I sleep well on modern coaches).. arrival in St Jean early enough to prepare for the following day.

Previously I was going to walk from Lourdes or even somewhere further afield. However just for once, I'm going to try and 'fit in', and do what other folk do. It is, I believe, part of what I need to learn... more humility. (Check out my website www.vikingway.wordpress.com and you'll see what I mean!)

I have always been a bit on the eccentric side but maybe the Camino can help me fit in more?

Who knows...

I'm more scared of what my mind will experience rather than the physical. My preparation has been quite intense, but the spiritual/mental? I shudder to think.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

It seems to me that does who have not spent time with the spiritual/mental region of human existence are uncomfortable because when you walk you have plenty of time to do just that. For those who are comfortable in the region of the spiritual/mental side of human existence, are forced through walking to deal with the physical side of life--and so we are all pushing the envelope in one way or another.

VikingQueen your blog looks fascinating - I will enjoy reading it I'm sure - and I hope in due course you will write about your Camino.

Buen Camino

Hi and good luck from a fellow Viking who are also walking the road less travelled in life :) Walking the Camino the more easy way might give you lots of time and freedom to explore other things than you normally do. When do you plan to start walking? We might meet on the way - heading for SJPP and up the hill next Sunday. Buen Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thanks for your kind words Kevin... I aim to continue the saga if my mini ipad allows it! I think it probably needs the Camino as much as me... Temperamental thing it is!

Hey Viking sister!

I'll be leaving England on the 17th and hope to start the walk on the 19th. Don't walk too quick and we may meet up! In the mean time... take care and Buen Camino.

That is my issue - I do walk quick... :) So, probably we do not meet. Camino provides remember. Ultreia!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Buen camino!

I met people walking from Lourdes and Carosse (spelling?) and they said that they considered the part to SJPP as transport more than hiking the Camino. It was very lonely.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I can believe it... Probably not a good start after the journey to get there. I've gone off the idea for the previous reasons given. I just want to stand side by side folk and learn for a change, instead of thinking I know. I haven't a clue how I'll feel in six or seven weeks time, apart from being physically worn out. I have no expectations.
