Hi from Alexandra with friend

Hello, fellow pilgrims!

My name is Alexandra, and I'm planning to walk the Aviles-Santiago de Compostela part of the del Norte with a friend, from the middle of June to the middle of July. It was completely on impulse - I inherited 5000 SEK (appr. 500€) from my great grandmother and wanted to do something very special for them. Enter my friend since long, whom I have never been able to do something really fun with, and together we come up with this crazy plan to do a pilgrimage in Spain. Well, it's becoming less and less crazy, and more and more realistic, and it is wonderful :) We've bought the tickets, and will fly to Asturia airport on the 17th of July, to begin our long walk in the sun from there.

Dinner greetings,
Alexandra

Hi, Alexandra,

Welcome to the forum. Your post touched me, and I thought I would just say that, as a mother (and not yet grandmother or great-grandmother), I would be so happy to know that my children were spending their inheritance from me on such a very special experience. Even if your great-grandmother never knew anything about the Camino, I think it is a wonderful way to honor her memory.

And I think you will find many opportunities on the Norte to reflect on some of life's bigger issues, and your great-grandmother will undoubtedly be a part of that reflection. Buen camino to you, Laurie

Thanks to you both for your kind replies! I feel more and more that this is the right thing to do. It will cost more than I had hoped, but I'm ready for it, and I know that I will get so much for it. :)

You certainly will...
