I am planning to stay at the Hospederia San Martin Pinario on completion of my walk and would like to know whether anybody can give me more information with regard to the distance of the hotel from a bus stop. Is it walking distance ? I have to get to the airport and would prefer not taking a taxi. Thank you to all the helpful people out there !

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Buses do not run through the cathedral part of Santiago, so you have to walk five to ten minutes to a major thoroughfare on the edge of the historic area to catch any bus. The airport bus goes to the train station, Plaza de Galicia, Palacio de Congresos, Rua da Rosa, San Lazaro, and the bus station. Plaza de Galicia is the closest to San Martin Pinario. Walk past the cathedral and the restaurant/shop area toward the train station. It is about 3/4 of a kilometer.

Buen camino!

Hi Sonni
To feel comfortable, walk there prior, you'll spot the bus stop sign (with the Plane symbol ) on sidewalk of Plaza de Galicia . It is just a few metres from the corner where the big store, Zara is situated.
San Martin Pinario is an excellent place to stay . First time I caught a cab but last month used the bus. It is only a few euro .

Yes it is an easy few minutes walking distance to the bus stop in Plaza de Galicia.
And I would add, that from Plaza Galicia the bus goes to the Railway station, then to the main bus station (estación de autobuses) and from there leaves for the airport. (see Ivar's map). I have walked on various occasions the distance from S. Martin Pinario to the main bus station in less time. Not to save on the fare (which is the same) but on time walking to Plaza Galicia, waiting in line for the bus, sitting in a stationary bus at the railway station, and finally getting at the main bus terminal. From where you start towards the airport:eek:
So if you have fit legs without overweight luggage, the walk to the bus terminal is actually rather enjoyable.;)(I prefer to walk past past Plaza S. Martin Pinario, through Rúa da Porta da Pena, Dos Loubeiros, Rúa Santa Clara, and at the far end roundabout turn right, straight onto the bus station):)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I have always walked to the main bus station. From S. Martín Pinario It takes about 20, maximum 25 mins. Anne.

Can you perhaps tell me how long does it take for the bus to reach the airport ?
