i am a pilgrim

Hi my name is Carole. I know I am a pilgrim because ever since I heard about the camino I wake up each morning thinking about them and their journey to St. James.

I am planning to start from Leon in May. I have never travelled abroad (I am from Quebec, Canada) which is amazing since I am 50 years old. Until now I have not seen a need to go. My husband, Simon, is not a walker so he will stay home and look after things.

My Dad is in the hospital, on and off since April, and has asked that I find a woman to join me (now that he has gotten old he worries) - it is a sound idea. I hike in the Gatineau mountains and I am never too relax when completely on my own. There are bears and there has been some trouble with men. So I am planning to see if I can make a connection with someone.

Hello Carole,
Here is a website, http://www.duquebecacompostelle.ca, where you will find great information. There will be a meeting on Nov 14th where you can meet people who have done the Camino, others planning to go and others just wondering whether they will go. On Dec 10th there will be a whole day organized. The topic is: physical, psychological and spiritual preparation for the Camino.
You might meet someone who like you would like a walking companion.
I will be going with a friend at the end of April from Roncesvalles.
Perhaps we will meet. I will be at the meeting in Novembre. I will look out for you.
Bonne chance :)

Hello Carole! There are several of us who will be on the Camino next May. I plan to start at the beginning of the month in St. Jean Pied du Port & depending on how it goes, should be in Leon mid-month.

Buen Camino!

Thanks for both of your insights.

Marjeanne - I am looking forward to seeing you on Nov. 14th since I am a member of the Hull compostelle group. I could't make it to the October session - did you?
