Time of past OR future Camino

at the end of April till beginning of May. There are two options:
1. Start from sjpdp
2.to do the meseta...start at burg us...

What do you think?
Weather affect...I want to walk the mountain in sjpdp and not via the road..
Opening of places to stay..
Thank you

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
@ofer ofer , you need to do some more research. Try http://www.gronze.com/camino-de-santiago/caminos/guia-del-camino-frances. If you really want to walk the Napoleon then start in St Jean, the route should be open subject to weather conditions at the time. In 10 days you will probably reach Logrono.

Gronze will provide information on Albergue availability but most places will be open by the end of April.

Hi, begin in SJPdP and look how far it brings you. And than come back and then you will begin where you left off.
You will have no problem to find a place to sleep.
Wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Thank you all,friends
At end of April ,do I need to bring sleeping bag?
Which albergues are the nicest ( food..place with character)from sjpdp to logrono?
Thank you

I never recommend that someone do part of the CF and then go back and finish it. Would be a bit presumptuous for me to assume that everyone on here has the time and disposable income to do that.
If I had only 10 days I would start in SJPdP, walk to Pamplona and then catch a bus or train to somewhere around O'Cebreiro or so, and walk in to Santiago.
Sleeping bag in April-May? Yeah, if it is very lightweight and packable. If not, a bag liner would work, too.
As far as albergues to recommend? They are all so different. Matter of one's personal taste etc. You will quickly know what kinds of albergues you want to stay in once you get on the Camino.
cheers

@ofer ofer if it were me, I would definitely carry a sleeping bag at the end of April. It can still get very cold.

There is the third option:
Start from sjpdp and finish at Burgos.
That's what I did last year. It took me 12 days but I walk slow.
I shall continue from Burgos in the matter of days, weather permitting! :)

Yes, "l'accueil St-Jacques" in SJPP can give you the information.
The office is 2, rue de la Citadelle And they are open all around the year.

You can only obtain valid information on site, as the weather is changing very quickly in the mountains...
Officially the route Napoléon is closed up to the 31th of March.
After this, the pass opening depends of the amount of snow remaining from the winter and from the weather, which is almost unpredictable further than 2-3 days in advance.
So the best is to go there and to ask...
You can get your credential there too and they will provide you with a lot of useful information about the opened albergue.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I do not take a sleeping bag in April, but I am a bit cold tolerant. If you need to be warm to sleep well, take the sleeping bag. Blankets are available almost everywhere (except Roncesvalles, which is heated). Use a blanket if necessary. Bed bugs live in walls and furniture, so blankets won't be a direct source of bugs.
