Hey interested people! I'm Helen,I'll be joining some/many thousands? on one or more of the Camino routes in July.[not often I experience two summers in the one year] Maybe alone, but from what I've read not a huge problem.Hope my son+his wife will join me for a week..and maybe a friend may join me for the other 2 or so weeks.I've started "my training" minus the weighted backpack at this stage as its VERY hot in Perth , West Aust....practically every day since Xmas has been over 35 ! I look foward to reading/communicating over this wonderful site..[I do want a lot of advice/suggestions as to planning my "pilgrim Experience", but will leave that for other times.
Bye for now [as its only 30 today I will do a long walk..perhaps up a few hills even!] posting.php?mode=post&f=14#

Hi Helen,
Welcome to the forum. I think you are an absolute heroine even thinking about training in that kind of Perth heat! But at least you will already be acclimatised to the kind of temperatures you might get on the Camino in July. Maybe you could just go swimming in the meantime and build up fitness that way until it cools down. I am sure there is something to be said for 'cross-training' like that when it is so hot!

Good grief! Heroine indeed! 30 degrees is unimaginable to me right now, although it is good training for the camino in july.

This week in my home town it has been -36 with wind....

Welcome, and best of luck with yout training!
