I saw this link on FB today and it is useful to give us some idea of the serious nature of snow around the GSB pass. This is saying that the snow has been very heavy this year, but that the pass should be open by mid-June. There is no fixed date for the opening every year. The pass is open when the old road has been cleared. Initially there will still be walls of snow on either side in parts, or at least on one side. The key fact to remember is that once the road has been declared open, they will keep it open and clear any fresh snow which falls. And note that there is significant risk before the road has been cleared. Always take advice before crossing before the road is open. The road is your backup if the regular footpath is not passable.
It is from 25 mins, if you lose your bearings in the clip.
And credit and thanks to those who work to clear the road every year.
