Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances Apr-May 2013
Just 5 weeks until we leave for our camino. We've really enjoyed all the research, planning, preparation, and have gained so much from reading about experiences of others. This forum is much more than a great resource, it's a community. Thank you all.

We'll be starting from St Jean on 22 April, and right now watching the current weather with interest and wondering what it will be like in 5 more weeks. Looking forward to the journey as well as any challenges along the way.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Greetings, lj4721. ...5 weeks to go. Great. That's just enough time to pack and repack a dozen times then change plans :) . Don't be too concerned about the weather. Spring is well underway in other parts of France and last weeks snows have melted. April will be glorious.

Bon Courage!

We are here in SJPP right now! After weeks of terrorising reports and fears of starting in waist deep snow, I am in a t-shirt and its a glorious day with similar future forecasts! Thank you God x

The daily high in Valcarlos for the next couple of days will be 15-17C. Roncesvalles will be cooler at about 11C, so keep the windbreaker handy!

Buen camino.

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement. We recently completed our camino - Santiago 27 May and Finisterre 1 June, and it was magical. We had it all - sun, cloud, rain, blustery winds, freezing cold, and even snowfall at O'Cebreiro. Loved absolutely every bit of it, couldn't have asked for any better. Being from hot Central Queensland, snow was a special treat for us. We were like kids in a toy shop.

In hindsight, I would say I carried a little too much. Fear of being cold was so strong. Really agree with something I read, ' we carry our fears in our backpacks'. True. I used everything I took, and was very thankful to have dry warm clothes when everything I was wearing got wet. But with extra thought I could have done with a little less. Just a little.

We are still travelling, and yet to really savour what we have experienced. That will take more time I think.

Cheers
From 2 very happy (can't wipe the smile off our faces) Aussie Pilgrims. Lex and Judy
