The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
While Americans are being insulted and maligned in other threads, forum members seem to have missed making fun of us for the typically American mistake in the photo at the top of this story. How sad that some people missed their chance at a legitimate potshot. :p

It is indeed a sad indictment, Michael. European pilgrims seem to be too busy enjoying the extra hour in bed to have a pop at Americans, or even to reignite the 'Mile or kilometre - which is best, and how do we spell it?" debate. :)

I found the article quite interesting. I hadn't heard some of the details of the 'Camino legends' before.

One of the priests at my (Jesuit) parish in Preston, UK is a keen Camino walker, and also did at least part of the Ignatian Camino this year.

P.s. The spot where the photo was taken used to be very badly trashed. It took me 2-3 hours to clear about 100 metres. Thanks to Rebekah Scott's annual Palencia clearup American Jesuits can now pose for photos there. :)

And I see now that I overlooked one of my pet peeves: the "800km, 497-mile Camino de Santiago". Such "accurate" conversions are, however, a global phenomenon and frequently seen in media reports :).
I agree. Although as a Scot who has walked the Camino Frances twice, it's culturally important that I can accurately report, "I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more". :)

I read it the same way, Anniesantiago, the first time I saw it, and had to really read it again. Then it brought remembrances of the meseta in the Fall of 2009. There was a young couple walking who looked to me like Jesus and a young version of Mary, or my version of what they would look like. I saw them several days in a row and then never saw them again. They were young and in love and I think walking on a budget. I never spoke to them but saw them at a distance and once in an albergue.
