Hi,

I have moderate osteoarthritis of the knees and after problems in the Pyrenees last autumn I had to defer a planned Camino this year. But my physio taught me the McConnell Knee Taping technique recently and it has resolved my knee issues while walking. Hopefully I’ll make the Camino next year. Here is a link to a YouTube demonstration in case it may be of help to someone else.

It’s misspelled - it should be called “Pair-o-knees”.

I’ve used knee braces but you have accept some sweat buildup if they have any foam and an inevitable odor. Last year in France, I disposed of mine after getting physically acclimated, even walking without poles the last day of a five day hike.

Ibuprofen use may have a contributing effect to GERDS development like mine, so weight loss via a low carb diet and intermittent fasting should reduce strain on the knees. I’ve had one knee scoped but it feels the same as the other one these days.

Old axiom: Pain inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Thanks for the info. I will try it out. My knees will surely benefit from the taping. Using a walking stick or two also helps.

For what it's worth I used elastic or neoprene knee supports for years then saw a specialist knee physiotherapist who said that they were useless, gave me exercises and taught me knee taping. And you know what, she was absolutely right.
