Hi, I'm starting from Oviedo on the 10th July. I leave tomorrow night and am starting to pack. I have a lovely fleece zip up jacket but it's seems quite bulky in my 30L backpack. Will I need a fleece in July? I also have a lightweight rain jacket and am considering just wearing that and a long sleeved T shirt if it's chilly. It would free up about a quarter of the space in my bag. Any opinions would be welcome?

Have decided on two really lightweight long sleeve tops that can be layered up and take up no space at all in my pack. I'm finding it hard to be ruthless when it comes to packing but I know I thank my self for it later on.

One fleece should be fine if you have also a light raincoat. It would go below 10C.. but it can be chilly.
Did you mean that it wouldn't go below 10degC? Santiago has recorded a lower minimum Jul temperature, at 9.6degC in 1948, but other major towns like Oviedo and Lugo have never experienced a minimum below 10degC in Jul before.

It went down to 4 deg in the mountains after Rabanal in 2012. I was glad I had a fleece but I missed a head covering. It was very windy too which added to the cold factor. Would your 2 tops be warm enough?

Uff! 4 degrees is very cold. I've just started my journey and I've left my jacket at home. I have the day sightseeing in Oviedo tomorrow so I'll look out for a sports shop to see if I can find a cheap lightweight fleece there. My pack is feeling quite light at the moment but the jacket just wouldn't fit in in the end.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
1 lightweight fleec is enough. 32' in Terradillos now, cool leaving Carrion this AM.

Buen Camino

We are arriving in Madrid on May 5th. I went online today to purchase train tickets to Oviedo and it doesn't show any train service. Does that mean the trains are sold out? Or maybe some other...
Hi, has anyone walked the Primitivo in mid-October? What was it like? Weather, tracks and accommodation? I plan to walk from Oviedo to Lugo only, then bus to Santiago after. Thanks for your input.
