Late March 2012 Departure from US???

I am planning on leaving from St. Jean on 3/28 and I am estimating about 33 days to end up in Santiago. I am excited and nervous all at the same time about this journey. :)

I have done a lot of business travel over the years, but never any kind of travel where I used only "foot power" to get from point A to point B. I will be travelling solo with my husband joining up with me the last 3-4 days for the final walk into Santiago.

Anybody else have similar departure plans?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Tracey from GA.
I'm Andrea from TX and I too am heading out of SJPDP in late March specifically around the 29th. I've never done this before either and am excited but definitely nervous too! I've had some replies to my post re:single female pilgrim and have been told it'll be fine but perhaps you and I'll meet up along the way. I've only begun preparing myself since late November so who knows if I'll truly be ready!!!
Let's stay in touch.

After two weeks on the camino, you will be ready! Do get into reasonable shape before leaving, but let the beginning of the walk be part of your training. Depending on your recovery rate, it will get easier after five to fourteen days. Blisters will make it much more difficult, so know how you will prevent them.

Have fun!

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Thanks for the support and advice. I am trying not to get too wrapped up in the details of my planning and "trying" to keep it simple, but the more I read on the forum the more anxiety I have begun to feel. Almost like paralysis by analysis. :D For me, I think I almost have too much information at this point and feeling overwhelmed by all of the details, opinions, etc.

I am in OK shape and power walked/ran a 1/2 marathon earlier this year and often walk and take short 2-3 mile runs. I need to start extending my walking time (and slooooow my pace from power walking pace) while carrying my backpack with the approximate weight in it. I decided to keep my tried and trusty hiking shoes I have had for years and just get some new inserts. Hopefully this, along with the vaseline and 2-pair sock method will keep me blister free. :? :?

My new years resolution is to start with the above training walks and slow down and just enjoy the process of getting ready for the camino since this is part of the journey, too. Thanks for the encouragement....it is really appreciated.

Happy Holidays!
