Greetings all
Well, what can I say !!! We were not blessed on the opening days walk from Porto to Rates, itrained practically all the way. The albergue was great, and we met some nice people, including a French guy who is on his 12th camino !!! Actually, after the first day, I thought a hip replacement was in order
A load of us left at different times during the next day, but met up at Antonio´s restaurant for brunch. His sister was magic and looked after us. The weather was glorious and we took the long way to get to Barcelos. The views from the church were stunning and the ruins were great. Once in Barcelos, the heavens opened up again, but who´s complaining when the two of us found a little restaurant where we had a dinner for two for ten euros and with an espresso being 0.55 cents, we kind of have not stopped drinking coffee. My hip has cleared up, but now I am thinking after the second day, maybe I could use a new ankle because I can´t stand those cobblestones !!!
Day 3, only a few of us went on to Pont de Lima and the day was even better. Personally I think I am blessed as the clouds just stayed away, and being Easter Sunday, we have actually been blessed three times by local priests. As far as my ankle is concerned, that is now fine, but I am now looking for two new feet if there are any going spare !!!
So three days in, and tomorrow I should be crossing the border. Don´t know what will go wrong next, but I am having loads of fun
