Camino Portugues (2019)
We are flying into Lisbon and taking the bus to Porto to start our camino on the coastal trail. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hotel in Lisbon that isn't too far from the bus station? Looking for a hotel rather than a hostel while we check out Lisbon. Thanks for any suggestions!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hotel do Chile, rua Pascual do Melo ,2,7 kms walking from the busstation at the Estrada das Laranjeiras The receptionist of the hotel is a former member of this forum and walked the caminho Português. His name is Diogo

The main bus station is at Sete Rios metro stop, which is also where the Lisbon zoo is. There are several moderate chain hotels in walking distance, on Av. Jose Malhoa. These hotels were all built for the Lisbon Expo (92?) and there is an Ibis, novotel, mercure and several more. But I have to say it is a totally charm-less part of a city with a lot of charm in the historic center. The metro is very efficient, and If you want recommendations on places that are more central, close to a metro for getting quickly to Sete Ríos, happy to offer suggestions (for low cost budget pensión type place I always suggest Pensao da Prata).

You may have your reasons for taking the bus, but I have taken the train and it is quick, efficient, and you can get it from the downtown station, Santa Apolonia. Bom caminho!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
The train is a really good option. Sta Apolonia to Porto three hours for 25 Euros trains nearly every hour. The CP train app is very useful you can book using the app.

Highly recommend the A.C. Marriott.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

No hotel suggestions. I always stay at the youth hostel in Lisbon.
However if you're exploring Lisbon, don't miss the Museum of Coaches and be sure to take the train to Sintra for a day/nite. You can find good lodging for Sintra on booking.com. There used to be an albergue there - not sure if it still exists. Maybe someone else knows.
