Looking for my pilgrim daughter

Our daughter, Kate, from America, contacted us on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from Zubiri, Spain. She said she was on "Stage 2" of the Camino. We haven't heard from her since then. Is there any way for us to know that she is safe? According to her schedule, she should be in Logrono by the 7th (if that's possible at this time of year).

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
I know it's hard not to worry.
However, it's often difficult to find wi-fi at some of the albergues.

She's probably having a great time!

I would give her until tomorrow, the 7th, or even the 8th, and hopefully she will email you.
The albergue at Logrono has computers and I bet she will contact you from there!

I'm hoping you have received some private messages with offers to help. There are several people on this forum who are located in Spain and on the Camino who know how to tap into the local network along the Camino.

Please let us know an update. Saying an extra prayer for your peace of mind and Kate's safety...

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Fear not!!! The Camino is an 'other' experience so she won't be checking in all the time. With mobiles you can not have a signal.

look - if something has happened to her she will be carrying documentation and the authorities would have been in touch with you. Also, it is a pretty good grapevine on the Camino. Should something, such as an accident, happen to a pilgrim everyone gets to know - it would have been posted on here.

I am a parent too - I understand - but relax, she is fine, all is well.

The Camino takes care of its own.. From my experience it is the safest place one could ever hope to be..Pilgrims watch out for each other, in times of need they also take care of each other..
Also i might add that once you settle into daily life on the Camino the so called "outside world "ceases to be important..What is important is your Camino, moment to moment, each day as it comes...I know these words are of little comfort to you and i can only say that for your own peace of mind i hope that your daughter makes contact with you soon....Perhaps when she does it might be a good idea to discuss future contact arrangements- or not :)

Post a note alomg the trail- call one of the albergues west of Logorno and ask them to post a note on a tree on the trail asking her to call home.

I have sent an IM. I am networked as far as Viloria in Burgos, but I need a bit more info before I can do anything really concrete.
Not to worry. A lot of us have, or are, "pilgrim daughters!"

I share your concern but this is the camino!!! I pray she is well and having a wonderful time. I walked the camino last year and there was someone who couldn't find his father and he was found some hours later. Have faith. I am a parent too and can understand how you feel. I pray all will be well.

with love and prayers

Thank you, to all who have taken the time to contact us and assure us of our daughter's safety. Although we still haven't heard from her, it is probably as you say - that she has not been able to find wi-fi, and she is really "living" the Camino. We have put her in God's hands and we trust Him. As soon as we hear from Kate, we will post it here. Blessings, Mark and Maureen Mueller

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Our Pilgrim daughter is Safe! Thank you, thank you to all of you beautiful people for your kind words and prayers. Kate is in Torres del Rio and is travelling with others. She is happy and healthy and says that the walk from Estella was the prettiest yet. This is the first time since Sunday that she has had wi-fi. God bless you all! Some day, my husband I will walk the Camino. We're inspired now to join this community.

As a parent of three children who have traveled extensively I can understand your anxiety over the past few days and am delighted you have made contact with Kate, it is such a relief. We go back on Camino on 17th March to join again the Camino family who we have always found to be most supportive.
Buen Camino.
Slán go fóill.

Glad to hear that all is OK and that you have spoken to her.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Excellent news! Prayers answered. Gracias a Santiago!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

She's found her 'Camino family' who will look after her, and her them. She'll be having the time of her life. Glad all is well. Buen Camino! :D

Congratulations on hearing from Kate. As a father myself I understand your concern and this has led me to understanding how my mother feels whenever I travel even though I am the "right" side of 60! My mother cannot cope with technology so the arrangement is that I will contact my daughter as and when I can for her to pass on the news. So I carry a mobile and send a brief text every few days (to keep costs down) or an email when I get access. Perhaps this is something that needs to be agreed in advance of the walk ensuring that parents/family/friends understand that there may be times when communication is not possible.
