Lucca to Altopascio

Left Lucca later than expected and by 0800 it was already 33C (93F).
The entire day was long, flat and hot through commercial and residential areas. (Not a good combination)
By the time I reached Altopascio it was 38C (100.4F) and I was ready for a cold beer 🍺.
***Now the good news***
I now have 71 days in the books and have over 1000 miles behind me!
I am right on my itinerary target to walk in to Rome on the morning of July 26th barring any unforeseen issues.
Now it's time to get ready for tomorrow's walk to San Miniato.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I found the route from here more expensive than expected as many of these stages end in tourist destinations, often uphill at the end of the day 😀. Please keep letting us know your thoughts 👍

So great you are on schedule Bob!
Besides leaving early, how are managing the heat? Do you use an umbrella?

@mla1 - I bought my umbrella 🌂 in Canterbury at a sporting goods store for $6 and have used it EVERYDAY, rain or shine for the last 71 days.
It has helped keep me dry and cool throughout this trip and has also assisted me to ward off a "number" of rude dogs 🐕 along the paths.
When I get to Rome I will hand it off to someone in need in hopes that it can assist them in the same way it has helped me.
It has been a tremendous help along the way and letting it go will be like Tom Hanks letting go of his beloved "Wilson" in the movie "Castaway".

Hi Camino Chrissy
I really don't either. I seem to start earlier each hot day, but it always catches up by days end.
At this point I'm only looking forward and enjoying what "Mother Nature" throws in my direction.
Kinda like life since we have we have no control over her.
