Time of past OR future Camino
April 2023
Hello. I’m starting out from St Jean PDP on April 12 - flying in to Paris from Australia. I would like to have a suitcase transferred from Paris to Santiago De Compostella. does anyone have some advice about whether this is possible and the most economical way. I don’t need the luggage during my walk. Thanks so much!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
It would probably be easiest to bring the suitcase to SJPdP and use Express Bourricot to send it to Santiago.

I've used their service a couple of times, and it is very easy. Plus there are no worries about sending across borders via the French Post Office.

I second Express Bourricot. I have been so impressed with their quality of service. And the cost for transport and storage (70 Euros for a suitcase) is comparable to what I paid to to ship a much smaller box with excess luggage via the French Post Office in SJPdP. You could send your luggage to Ivar for a very small storage fee.

Thanks so much, Jarrad. I've now contacted Express Bourricot. Did you mean that I could have the suitcase delivered to Ivar's storage facility? Or would Express Bourricot store the luggage?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

With Express Bourricot they contract with the Loop Inn in Santiago which has a secure luggage storage room. It's very convenient because the reception desk is open 24/7 (at least it was when it was Hostal Lasalle back in 2019) so you can pick your bag up at your convenience.

The fee to send the bag includes storage for as long as you need to complete your Camino. They also offer a discount at the hotel if you use the luggage transfer service.

Sorry all, I meant to clarify that to get your luggage to Ivar, you would need to use the French Post. It's do-able and there is a post office just off Avenue Renaud in the north part of the St. Jean (walking north, it is on your left just past the small elementary school). But as Trecile pointed out (and I have experienced in the past), the French Post can be a bit of a bother (and it's a bit more expensive).

Good luck with Express Bourricot -- they would be my first choice too. Very best of luck on your Camino!
