Just wanted to say that I'm walking the meseta now, getting closer to León, and the weather is great! Sunny and 15°C during the day. In case anyone is thinking of a last minute camino like me

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Nomadita,
Glad to learn that the weather is great and your camino is going well. Just before you enter Leon you will cross some very special bridges. One at Villarente. The other above the auto-route east of Leon. Be prepared.

Carpe diem and Buen camino!

Love the lonely, brown Meseta in winter. There is a raw and simple beauty and power.

Yes amazing part of Camino in any season feel sorry for those pilgrims who skip this part there missing a fantastic experience.Buen Camino.

I may do the same next month! How is the situation with accommodation, was it easy to find albergues? And are there many other pilgrims?

Hey I just finished in Santiago on Thursday, couldn't get off it and kept going past León! It was quite easy to find albergues in February. Some places like Foncebadón there was only one open so a friend kindly booked me a bed as I arrived late and it was full! March I guess things will start opening up. There are a few municipais that are open all year, and have a look at the Buen Camino app and Aprinca list (https://www.aprinca.com/alberguesinvierno/). There are quite a few pilgrims, more than I expected, and made a great group of friends. So sad to leave Santiago today!

I left SJPDP on 2 January and arrived in Santiago on 2 February. I was very surprised by the numbers in the first half of my walk - up to 15 in the albergue in some places like Roncesvalles, Puente la Reina and Astorga. But contrary to my expectations numbers tailed off markedly in Galicia and after Sarria I spent four nights in Xunta albergues either alone or with one companion. No idea why that should be!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
