Time of past OR future Camino
Portuguēs (2015), Primitivo (2016), del Northe (2018), Del Salvador/Primitvo (2020)
So I'm doing my homework for my Camino in july. And while I was surfing on the net, trying to find as many albergues as possible, I found this: the mosteiro in Vila do Condo transformed as an albergue for peregrinos.
Has anyone here been there?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I have seen something about it, but haven't been there. It's about 25 km north of Porto and it has just received a grant of $6000 from American Pilgrims on the Camino (the U.S. Camino group) to help with the construction of a visitors center.

The albergue opened in 2013, so it's been around a while. 34 beds in 8 rooms, kitchen, living room. Sounds very nice!

More info here if you can read Portuguese: http://mosteirodevairao.blogspot.pt/

I wish my Portugese was much better . It's on my list, so hope to visit it on my Caminho.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Is in Caminho Central, before village of Vilarinho (before Casa da Laura).
The caminho was diverted to pass through Vairão.

Exactly ! About 9kms south east east of Vila do Conde, quite a detour , anyway from the coastal detour.

I stayed there in 2013 on my first night on the Camino.
Only 4 beds to a room, kitchen and lounge. Everything was being done up pretty well. By the look of monastery, church and cemetery on a small village like Vairão indicates some noble gentry lived there or nearby.
Definitely recommend. It is a stretch for a first, walking on hard surface, but if you take the metro out of Porto, you can avoid the uninteresting bit on the outskirts.

We booked this last night Suzan. First night after arriving at the Porto airport

Great! I's to on my route, unfortunately :(

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
It's NOT on my route. (Autocorrect )
Maybe better . Follow the coastal detour from Matosinhos.. Is better However.. Vairão is only 6 kms from Vila do Conde so with some minor efforts (bus) you could stay there for the night and continue next morning to the coast again !
I am not a fan of leaving Porto via Maia and Vilarinho but leaving directly from the airport to Vairāo (by taxi) and staying the next morning for the first etappa, it is okay because you just are out of the busy infrastructure of the north of Porto.

Matosinhos will be my first stop from Porto. ;) I will take a slow start. I was thinking to visit it on my way back. Pfffff so many things I want to see on this camino. Think I need to plan my camino 2016 as soon as I get back :D

The caminho virus allready cought you.
We planned only one time to walk the caminho . Now we start the third one and allready planning the next one , the caminho Português interno from Viseu at the east side of Portugal in 2016.
But is is good to start slowly. Hostal Central in Matosinhos was a great place to stay over for the night we stayed there theee nights after returning from Santiago to wait for our flight back and walked from there to Porto centrr in reverse. Great walk.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
