September (2016)
Hello everyone, I have been enjoying a few months of browsing this wonderful forum in my dreaming phase, and now happy to make myself known as I enter the scheming phase :)

I just booked my flight yesterday, I leave Sydney 19th September this year, anticipating I will start walking from SJPDP from about the 22nd. My heart is singing as I take steps to make this dream a reality. I first heard about the Camino when I was backpacking in my early twenties. It's now ten years later and the timing feels right, in a sort of comical way as I have a lot going on this year (work projects, moving, family etc) but the pull is strong and I feel like all will work out as it should... A sort of sense of peace in the chaos, not sure if that makes sense to anyone else :)

I am keen to keep learning from all the wise ones, and share mounting excitement with those dreaming and scheming still! Thanks to all who share so generously here, hope to see you round the forums or on the Way.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Donna
I too have a chaotic life with work, family etc . Also a wee bit older than you ;). But feel the time is right and should not put it off. I am not ready BUT when will I be ever ? Just will go with no expectations and see what happens. I had intended to go a couple of years ago but life had other plans for me then .
Leaving St Jean 20th. Slow and steady.

Cheers
Anne

Hi Donna, I'm from California and leaving SJPDP on the 20th. Not over the mountians but thru Viacarlos. Second trip and all I can say is take it all in, it's another world for sure.
I too am leaving St Jean on 20th Sept via Valcarlos. I have not had a lot of time to train due to work etc so am taking it slow and steady . Have done some long walks at home a few years ago. Staying overnight at Valcarlos at this point. I just want to take my time , clear my head and enjoy the moments. But also want to build up my fitness in the first few days .
Have been tempted to worry about the number of markers as I have read some people got lost and I don't know how many people will be on alternate route from St Jean. Anyway, I am going and will see what happens .

Hi Anne, I worked out hard for my first Camino but if your walking any distance you'll have no problem. I didn't have a clue last time and only strayed when I wasn't paying attention to the trail markers and even then found my way back no worries. Maybe I'll catch you there.

Hello to everyone who kindly welcomed me to the forum earlier this year! I just wanted to pop back in and explain that my first Camino was postponed 6 months as I very sadly lost my younger sister 4 months ago :-(

Everything changed, and the timing was not right for September, but I feel like my Camino experience is happening when it is meant to and will be part of my grieving/healing/living experience.

I expect to start from St Jean around the 8th April 2017, and am looking forward to a Spring walk instead.

I've been continuing to read all the great posts in the forum and am so grateful for everyone who contributes. I am slowly sorting all my gear thanks to the wisdom on here!
