Hi All, I'm starting my trek from Madrid mid May and need to purchase hiking poles before I set out. Where in Madrid would you recommend I go to buy these? I'd like something close to Santiago Square where I'll be starting and likely lodging before I head out. So excited to be walking this route!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
There are several small Decathlon stores in central Madrid. That’s a good place for inexpensive gear, if you don’t want something too high quality. The closest Decathlon to the Santiago Church is near the Atocha train station. Not in the same neighborhood as where you will be, but not too far.

You will be staying in the commercial downtown core, so I would try the Corte Inglés. More expensive, but you can be sure it will be of decent quality. There are lots of hiking/mountain stores in Madrid.

I see there is a Barrabés store near another outdoor store, Outdoor sin Límite, so if I were going to venture out, I’d go there so you would have two shots. Those two are only a km away from the Santiago church, and a nice walk through old Madrid to get there.

I’ve attached a screen shot.

Hey,
I loved the Camino de Madrid. If you want to stay right near the Atocha station, Hotel Medio Día is directly across the street. It's inexpensive and comfortable. Big old, Hotel with the "famous" squid sandwich place practically next door. If you want something more high-end and cosmopolitan (expensive), the Hotel Paseo del Arte is a 1/2 a block away, luxurious. If you stay in that area the Prado and Reina Sophia are right there.
Buen Camino

Look for any china, or bazaar store, they all have poles at the lowest price available, so if you donate them in a free box somewhere after using, it is painless. There are lots of china stores most everywhere.
