New Albergue in Castelloli

To be clear, it is a new albergue that is a replacement for the municipal one they used to have. That one had bunks on a flat floored auditorium with a raised stage and restrooms on the floor below. Two years ago there was no charge as the town had no way to enter a donation on their books.

From Monserrat Castolloli makes a shorter first stage than going all the way to Igualada on the Camino Catalan. That gives you more time to explore Monserrat in the morning (or wait out a really heavy rain).

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Castellolí, on the way OUT OF Montserrat on the Cami Catalan, is not to be confused with Castellgalí, on the way INTO Montserrat on the Camí Catalan, about 10 or 12 kms out of Manresa.

Of course, the only reason I am mentioning it is because I did confuse them and was thinking — hey there is no albergue here. But I had my places mixed up. ;)

It's a very nice albergue indeed - and free as well. I stayed there on Wednesday night. There is a number code to get in, which all the village bars have. There are three large bedrooms with 2 bunks in each, and a well equipped kitchen (some new pots and pans arrived at the same time as I did, and the charming cleaner was very disappointed I wouldn't need them, having just had a very filling and tasty menú del día at Cal Betis, the first bar you see on the main drag). Really excellent - I had been planning to stay at Igualada, but the albergue there is unlikely to reopen much before Xmas, and the hospitalera at Montserrat vehemently advised against staying at the pensión in town
