New walking route from Pedrafita to O Cebreiro

Too many and too often!
An article today about a project by a school in Pedrafita do Cebreiro. Marking out a 4km walking route from Pedrafita to O Cebreiro with markers and QR code signs linked to information on the history, ecology and geology of the path. A useful link to the Camino Frances from the village which has direct bus access to Madrid and Santiago.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I just did a threat suggesting an alternate route should be made after Portomarin and I had several people write it is impossible to do. Good to hear about the new route near OCebreiro. Not sure how it would affect the Camino.

This is a very short route - only about 4km. Adding signposts to existing paths. Apart from producing the signs themselves the project has little direct cost. I imagine it is of more immediate value to local walkers than to long distance pilgrims but it could also be of use to those who would like to begin their Camino in O Cebreiro. There are excellent bus links to Pedrafita and a signposted route off the main road would be helpful. I doubt it would have a major impact on numbers though.

Train for your next Camino (or keep the Camino spirit alive) on Santa Catalina Island
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I think it may make it easier for people to enter or exit the Camino at O'Cebrerio. Many people walk in shorter one or two week segments and it is more difficult to get back to Madrid (or wherever) at some points due to transportation limitations.
