I'm planning to start walking in early May from SJPP. My husband will drop me off and then meet me at Finesterre at the end. It will be the longest we've been apart — with the least communication — since we met 26 years ago. In between, he'll fly back to the States to attend to our business. He's being wonderful about all of this so far.

Where would you recommend that we stay for our last night together? It doesn't need to be four star fancy, but we don't mind paying for a good place that's quiet, and we'll have a rental car from Biarretz.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I can thoroughly recommend the ' Xoko Goxoa ' hotel, bar restaurant . Please don't ask me to pronounce it though
It is a ten minute drive out of SJPDP , quaint , charming , quiet and with good food . This photograph of ' Rush hour 'gives some indication of how quiet it is [ taken late May of last year ]

Maison Donamaria B&B (Jean-Francois Rabeux)...a short walk down the river trail from town...very quiet...the owner speaks excellent English and will do anything to help you...and even the breakfast is excellent.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

The Continental St. Jean PP. It's nice and where Martin Sheen stayed the first night in the movie "The Way". I stayed there in 2016 and it was close to everything. Buen Camino

I don't have a hotel reccomendation, but I would suggest that you stay at Orisson the first night of your Camino. That way you won't have to leave St Jean early in the morning and can enjoy a leisurely breakfast with your husband before you set out.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
There's a small hotel in Dugium just outside Finisterre where I've had breakfast on the way to Muxia, very quiet and comfortable looking.......regards robin Dorkings

I highly recommend Maison Donamaria too. It is very quiet and right alongside the river. The rooms are lovely and breakfast is delicious. I also found Jean Francois just delightful. Good luck and Buen Camino

Wow the 2 places I would have said have been recommended already. Xoko Goxoa is so friendly, but choose one of the dearer rooms unless you are ok with restricted space. The owners will tell you there is work going on to re-instate what they say is the original route over the mountain before the bridge was built in SJPP. We have stayed in Donamaria a few times now and would heartily recommend that one too. Do enjoy the walking and everything it throws at you.

I suggest Hôtel des Pyrénées, in the center of SJPP walking distance from the train and bus station very good restaurant.
Enjoy
