Hi there's,

Looking for some advice.

I am thinking of walking just, O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela. The reason being, is that my father would like to do it. Whilst fit, he could not do a multi day hike.
I've read there is train to and from O Pedrouzo and Santiago de Compostela. My plan would be to train it to O Pedrouzo and walk back.

Do people do this? Any recommendations or advice would be helpful.

Cheers, E

Hello E.....Thats a lovely idea, many pilgrims rest here overnight before the final 20k or so takes them into Santiago....Its a bit hilly (total ascent of about 700m) but you have the scent and shade of the eucalyptus trees before you reach the outskirts of the city and then its road walking all the way in. It may be busy with pilgrims... being near the end of different converging Caminos...there are lots of places to stay and take refreshments and good transport options as well....enjoy and Buen Camino

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
This last 19km is lovely. On our last day we decided to take a very slow walk, stop at cafe, chatting, counting down at milestones, group selfie on the road. I am sure both of you will enjoy meeting others pilgrims coming from longer distances. It like going into Santiago to attend a fiasta.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You might consider stopping the night in Lavacolla if the distance is too far for him to manage in one day.
That was what I did so that I could arrive in Santiago early so I could enjoy the day as my flight home was very early the next morning. Whilst the distance isn't too far the initial few miles is a gentle (or not so gentle) ascent that would need to be taken slowly.

Maybe it was just me, but I felt a festive vibe walking that section of the Camino. As if we were all heading to the same great party. Even the biciclistas were gracious. As I was dragging myself up that last hill to Monte Gozo a whole peloton, wearing MoviStar shirts, came along and yelled "Venga, venga," until I made it to the top.

Same here, like a carnival is waiting for us in Santiago

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
