Besides bus transportation, what other services will be affected by the holiday on Wed., Oct 12?

It's a national holiday, so all sorts of services would be affected - government offices, businesses, transportation schedules, etc. You would need to check first, if you are relying on any particular shop or service to be functioning.

The Castle in Burgos. It's where we actually found out that October 12 was a Spanish holiday! At that time, it was also a US holiday. We hiked up to visit the castle and found it closed. Still a nice walk up and perfect place to have our picnic lunch and take a few photos of the cathedral below.
