OK to start in Mercadorio?

Mercadorio is just over 100km from Santiago, so would starting there qualify for a Compostella?
My wife wants to join me for the last 100km, but would like to do as short a route as possible.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I think you should check the distances here. Mercadorio appears to be too close to Portomarin to be over 100km. As I best understand it, Morgade might just qualify, but for some time it has also been shown as under 100 km. Some recent route changes might have changed that.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
I have started there three times! It is not a problem with the Pilgrim office.
I presume you are referring to Ferreiros? I stayed at Casa Morgade in 2016. Their stamp suggests they are at 99.5 km, although there was talk that route changes had had the effect of putting this place further than 100 km from Santiago.

According to their website, Casa Morgade is now at 101,996 km. Not everybody has adjusted to the new mojones with their different distances, perhaps godesalco.com hasn't done so? Here is a photo taken this year of a shop with the name "Kilometro 112" and, as inset, the new mojon on their pavement that now says km 114,736.

Simply start in Sarria and you'll definitely be on the safe side. Walking to Morgade or Ferreiros or Mercadoiro will save you transport issues to these villages. Sarria is really easy to reach with public transport if your wife is joining you.

Ferreiros is the last village before the 100km marker. Mercadoiro is 97.09 km from Santiago.
