On the way up we saw a horse coming down, riderless and alone. I had enough time to get the camera out and get this picture.

One picture wasn't enough. Another could be better. I pressed the shutter button and waited for the click and I got the picture that was most memorable.

I was reading an article about the SWCP a while ago and two guys had walked a week of it and reported the total ascent was the height of Everest (about 8.5km). Amazingly/coincidentally, that was next on my list to post too, having spent the night at Casa del Peregrinos in Navarette and being awoken there by someone who had forgotten the rule about putting your phones on silent.

Yes, this was my first Camino. I recently found and scanned in the photos I took then. So I'm posting a few of them in this thread. I've seen several fellow forum members reference earlier Caminos they've done in various threads since I've joined, but I do think this tends towards the earlier end of the spectrum so I thought the photos might be of interest.David, was this your first Camino? I've stayed here twice in 2015 and 2017. I loved it and the ambiance was more like a nice B&B inn.Daily life on the Camino. Washing of clothes. Albergue San Saturnino in Ventosa. Camino Francès 2011.
When that is done : off to the local bar for a relaxing drink.

I've been seeing many photos of this view lately (I even have two that got saved). It is so nice seeing the differences in the pictures though, different crops in different years, different seasons and weather and with different sprinklings of pilgrims.before Santo Domingo

Fortunately, about 600 of the lost ones had been loaded onto a tablet to view on a big screen and cropped and a screenshot taken. I've been working with those screenshots for all my SJPdP to O Ceibrero submittals. I do backups differently now.

I’ve stayed there many nights in one of the designated pilgrim rooms. I love this building, love it. The all you can eat breakfast buffet that comes with the rate of the room is unbelievably a good deal. Oh did I mention I love this place.Dinner in the vaulted dining room at San Martin Pinario in Santiago. The food wasn't very interesting but I enjoyed the experience of eating there.

UPDATE: I found them on an old laptop I had put away because it was slowing down. I quickly transferred them to a thumb drive then to iCloud. Oh happy day! Happy dance!I feel your pain. This is my plan for the next time around, overnight in Foncebadon, sunrise at the Cruz de Ferro. Tried last time but weather came in so no sunrise visible...September 26, 2013. After a windy, stormy night in the alburgue at Foncebadon we left in the dark to reach Cruz de Ferro. This, the last picture I took (for the next 24/48 hours) before the batteries died in my camera.

Actually, my photo showed the second of these signs - the first one offered parking. Both were far from any vehicle, that was the irony!@kirkie might have had the camino closed on her but we did better. In Sarria (??) they were also closing the camino down for work but they were putting up detour signs.
