Can someone tell me how to get to the El Camino trail from the train station in Pamplona?

Probably just by asking and walking. It is not far. The station is down on the flat, and the nearest intersection point with the Camino is across the river and up inside the city walls. Which you want to visit anyway! If you look on Google maps you will see two circular gardens in the middle of Pamplona - the camino runs roughly across the one that is marked on my map as Jardins de la Taconera. People will help you find it. If I was clever enough I'd take a screen shot with a mud map drawn on it - but I'm not.

If you are bypassing Pamplona, follow streets to Parque de Yamaguchi, and turn right to Cizur Menor. It is about 5.5 km from the station to the albergue in Cizur Menor.

Pamplona old city is up a 30 meter hill, surrounded by a Roman Wall, from the train station. The yellow path will bring you into the city via the old roman gate. There is also an underground escalator that will bring you up the hill to the old city, Ascensor Urbano de Descalzo, marked by the brown path. 30 feet inside the old city gate is the Albergue Casa Ibarrola. Pamplona is worth an extra day. Buen Camino.

If you say the "El Camino" you are saying the the Road.
Or for those of us who know "the Road" as "the Camino" . . .

A lot of people just use Camino, it's more handy! I, while walking on Spanish sites, use the name of El Camino when applicable.
