Is anyone aware of any place to park a car near Sarria, or anywhere between Sarria and Santiago? We have a rental car that we will use after the Camino for additional travel, and used before to travel from a wedding... Any suggestions are appreciated. (I feel guilty for asking this, but check out my thread about my shattered ankle and you may understand why I want to do the last 100 km).

There is no 'secure' parking in Sarria that I am aware of or that a Google search will expose to the worlds gaze. There are plenty of kerb-sides. Your rental company might be able to advise. Parking kerb-side don't leave anything of value or none in sight, in fact don't leave anything in the vehicle - most hire cars are obvious piggy banks to predators.

The alternative is to close down your rental. Enjoy your walk and pick up another car. Paying hire charges for 5 - 6 days while walking seems a tad perverse to me. As does paying a hotel I'm not sleeping in to look after someone else's car.

Because we have a longer trip including more than just our time on the Camino, we have a deal on a leased car that made sense even considering the days we are walking. We did find a parking spot way out of the way from most traffic but near the Camino route, I will keep quiet about it so it does not become known (and thus target).

Then while staying in Gonzar at Casa Garcia, the gal running the bar and reception let us leave the car in the cow field for the rest of our Camino! I love that the Camino provides....
