Hi, has anyone visited the Petroglifos del Teleno (http://lasendadelhayedo.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/visita-al-dios-teleno-cuaderno-de-viaje.html)? For someone with an interest in prehistory are they worth making a detour for to see? I think they are just south of Santa Colomba De Somoza near Astorga but I am having trouble with the exact location. It looks a little bit too far off the main camino to walk there. I wondered if it would be feasible to get a get a taxi there. Any advice would be gratefully received.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Helen, they are pretty far off the track, near to Lucillo. You really need someone to show you where to look for them. Depending on when you pass through there, I can put you in touch with some English-speakers who know the petroglyphs and standing stones up there.
The ones I have seen are not "gee-whiz" perfection -- they are weathered and worn. But pre-history anything is such a mind-blow, no?
That said, I wouldn't walk it. A taxi driver probably wouldn't know where to go. IM me and I will try to put you in touch.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi Rebekah,

Huge thanks for the info. I was hoping the site might be next to a road and well known/easy to find but it sounds like it’s more of a map and compass/local directions affair.

If all goes to plan I should be passing through next week but I have decided to make another trip to Spain to look at the archaeology but it won’t be for another year or two. The Celtic castro sites look amazing and I would very much like to visit Lugo.

Thanks again - Helen
