Hello Nathanael,

When I walked the Camino frances in 2005 I took the CSJ guide with me, opened it the first day or so and then it sat in the bottom of my bag. Not because it wasn't any good, but because it really wasn't needed to be used for directions and I just used to stop when and where I felt like it so there was no need either to use it for the albergue information.

In 2007 I carried the John Brierly, only because it was my intention on this journey, where possible, to take alternative paths and even some detours. I did use it for that kind of information, but again I didn't use it for the albergue information. It is possible to pick up a leaflet very early on in your journey which will give all the albergue information you need (indeed you will get some info at the pilgriam office if my memory serves me correct) and also the stages. The path from St Jean is so well marked that you really don't need anything to foolow - and there will be plenty of others who will no doubt share information with you.

Regards, Janet

Money stolen from bag on bed while sleeping. Estelle municipal hostel. Not a big inconvenience as my passport and credit cards were left.
