Hi - welcome to the Forum, where you´ll find other Australian pilgrims and hopefully lots of information to help you make your choice. How long are you planning on your pilgrimage to be? The answer might help narrow the many choices of routes!

2010 is the next Holy Year and camino routes will be busier but also very exciting and in the Holy Year the botafumeiro flies evey day at the Pilgrims´Mass at noon so you are guaranteed to see it!

Best wishes with your planning.

John

Welcome to the Forum!

With a 2010 kick off you have plenty of time to scope out the many topics and threads on the Forum and follow some of the current Class of 2009 as they make their Camino along the Way.

May I suggest that you take a look at the Class of 2008 to get an idea of what all went into their Camino...the best and the most disappointing is documented there. Then, when you've digested it all...consider that YOUR Camino may be totally different. The fact that you're walking in a Holy Year practically guarantees your Camino will be memorable.

Buen Camino,

Arn, I have to differ with your suggestion that walking in 2010 practically guarantees your camino will be memorable.

I thought all caminos were memorable in some way or another. How vivid is the memory of the first sello along the way, the weather that challenges so many, the obstacles to overcome and finally watching the botofumerio swing at the Pilgrims mass at the end of the journey. These are just a few of the priceless memories we have of our fortnight in Portugal and Spain.

I would say that the Holy Year could be a little more memorable than most.

Welcome to journeywomansarjill. Enjoy the planning and Buen camino. :D

Rose Louise opined: all caminos were memorable

You are totally correct Rose louise and I stand corrected!

I would suggest though...that with the extra folks, government involvement (a necessity) and the fact that it's a Holy Year...memories will likely be different from ordinary years.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
