Hello,

I will be walking the Camino Portuguese by myself in October with six days to walk, starting in Ponte de Lima. Unfortunately, my flight arrives in Porto at 4;30pm so I will not be able to catch the 5:00pm bus to Ponte de Lima. I am hoping to take the Get Bus from Porto airport to Braga and catch transportation from there., but will not be able to spend the night in Braga because there will not be enought time to start the walk from Braga. Are there any suggestions on how to get from Braga to Ponte de Lima in the evening. Or perhaps, there is a town closer to Ponte de Limo that i could travel from Porto to and then find a travel solution from there. Appreciate any help, thank you.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Barcelos is on the caminho and one stop before Ponte de Lima
From Braga goes a bus (about 20 kms ) to Barcelos and there is an albergue and several hostals and a hotel (where I stayed last year)
About 18 kms from Barcelos before Ponte de Lima is the best place to sleep at casa da Fernanda in Vitorino dos Piaês I do not know is there is a busconnection to that place I have to find out this myself for next year but can send Fernanda an email.
As soon as I get an answer I will let you know if you want.

hello

To "six days to walk, starting in Ponte de Lima" it is possible, I made (in 2012) 156,21Km, but it´s a litle hard.

From Braga to Ponte de Lima the last conection is at 19H30, i dont believe , your are at Braga at this hour, check de shedule:

Why not start in Valença,Portugal- near Tuy, Espanha:
1-airport toPorto
2-Sleep in Porto, and go by train, the next day,to Valença at 8.15 am

Hi,

Thank you for the information, and I would like to know.

If as tutinegra_pt suggests you do go via Valenca de Minho you can then walk across the river Minho to Tui, Spain, on the 19th century bridge designed by Eiffel of Parisian tower fame. The view is spendid especially in the early morning as the mist rises or at dusk when the lights are lit.

Perhaps some of these other web sites will further help with your planning.

Bom caminho

Hi,

I would prefer to walk a little more in Portugal that is why I would like to start in Ponte de Lima and not Valenca. I prefer not to stay in Porto, already loosing a day in travel and want to start walking the next day and not have to travel by transportation to another destination. But, do you know if Braga is closer to Ponte de Lima or Barcelos. Perhaps I could take a taxi from Braga or Barcelos to Ponte de Lima that night. Thanks for the links and the info, it is good to have options, just in case.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Braga is 22 k due east of Barcelos as well as 40 k southeast of Ponte de Lima. Nice albergue in Ponte de Lima and VERY good food!!

EBA Transportes provides bus service from Braga to Ponte de Lima.

1730 Get Bus from Porto Airport to Braga (next one is 2030 and that means stay overnight at Braga) Website does not give time of travel from Porto to Braga. (Distance is 50km ... so estimate an hour)

1845 or 1930 EBA bus from Braga to Ponte de Lima. (first bus is 0715 if you stay in Braga)

I gather Get Bus and EBA are associated through Transdev.

Hello,

My planning is to depart from Porto Airport (1-10 or 8-10) by folding bike in 10 days.
Maybe we on the same way.

Buen Camino

Hello,

It sounds as if you will be finished by the time I arrive in Portugal, but who knows - have fun.

Thank you all very much for your help. If I can get to the bus for Braga at the airport in time I might just make the connection. Have you heard of a web site called blah blah cars. I read that you sign up on their website and make arrangements to meet at certain points and get rides to your destination, if being offered at that time.

the EBA website says that the trip from Porto to Braga takes 50 minutes without any stop in between. A so called expresbus.
The busstation in Braga is about 5 minutes walk from the towncenter.

Shelly it is pity you are not staying in Braga .It is a beautifull town and the Bom Jesus do Monte church is world famous and worth more than a visit.

I now have plan A, B or C for my start - buses, stay overnight in Braga if need be and travel by bus the next morning, and possibly bla bla car service which only charges a few euros (less than the bus actually), and after researching found a New York Times article about them. Good possibilities and I thank everyone for their input.
Buen Camino!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
