Fernanda, who helps pilgrims in Lugar do Corto just before Vitorino, has told me that the long awaited albergue in Ponte de Lima is now open. You have to cross over the old bridge and it is on the other side.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The albergue in Ponte de Lima is definately open as we had a drink at the bar right next to it with some of our amigos del camino who stayed there. It looks very nice. As the previous message said, it is just across the bridge and the camino turns to the left just after it. Ponte de LIma itself is a lovely town.

Ponte de Lima hostel - credientials?

Hi all, Great news about the new hostel! I am hoping to walk from Ponte de Lima to SCQ mid-September. Does anybody know if you can get a credential (pilgrim's passport) at the hostel in Ponte de Lima?

Many thanks!!

We met some pergrinos who started in Ponte de Lima. They picked up their credenciales in Porto (at the Cathedral). If you have to go through Porto to get to Ponte de Lima, this might be the easiest thing to do (apart from getting a credencial from your local fraternidad.

Thank you for your advice. I'm actually going to be coming the other way - from Coruna and maybe briefly stopping in Vigo. I should be able to pick up my credentials in either city I guess!

Given that the Camino Ingles starts in La Coruna, that might be a better place to go credencial hunting than Vigo. The Camino Ingles forum might have some useful info on this. One of the nice things about starting in Porto (quite apart from the fact that it is a lovely city), when you pick up your credencial at the Cathedral, they put a Camino Portugues stamp in it.
