Record temperatures in Galicia

Record temperatures of 37.9 degrees C were reported at Vigo airport last Friday, by yesterday they were only 37.1, according to Spanish TV. It wasn't said that this was in the shade but I assume it was. I took the temperature outside my house yesterday and it was 47 degrees in the sun and 33 degrees in the shade in mid afternoon. (I just wanted to check because they kept saying that it was 40 degrees on Centre Court at Wimbledon!)
For those walking now do take care.
Buen camino

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you so much! I will be walking the Finisterre camino in a few weeks and am determining what to take clothing wise, so you post is helpful. Has there been a lot of rain this season?

I've been in Spain since early May and have experienced everything from icy sleet to heavy rain to thick fog to 'too hot to breathe!' Today most folks are holed up in a dark cool place. I just returned from the beach at Vilagarcia and it was hot as blazes.

I would plan on hot weather and be prepared for snow.

Did that help?
Sorry :::laughing:::
It's just been a wild ride!

Sure has been a wacky spring in Spain and many places in Europe this year - flooding to endless rain, sub normal to nearly freezing temperatures with the odd snow storm thrown in for good measure.

I could count the number of days on one hand, the temperature actually got over 20 degrees during the months of April and May while walking the via de la plata. Many experienced similar conditions on the camino France route during the same time period.

However just as we left Spain in early June to return home, I suspected the tide was charging and the scale would tip to higher than normal temperatures for the summer, much like what people are now experiencing in Galicia right now.

This is the new "normal" in terms of weather and the climate, something we all have to come to expect and deal with.

This season being summer, then no. So far not even the odd thunder storm. However it was very wet before that.

Yes, the meteorological office had the same idea. I walked the Camino Ingles and on to Muxia from the 10th to the 17th June. Meteogalicia said it would be hot and dry, needless to say I got very wet. The hot weather started on the 22nd june and it just gets hotter but a respite is promised :D

Never believe a weather forecast and always be prepared :)
